The Russian and Post-Soviet Program welcomes the Belgium-based Russian folk group Zolotoi ples
The colorful ensemble offers a lively program of folk songs and instrumental music. Its members, Sergei Gratchev, Elena Sadina and Aleksandr Solovov (left to right) are all graduates of the Saratov Music Conservatory of Saratov, Russia.
The winners of a number of prestigious music competitions throughout Europe, members of the Zolotoi Plios Folk Ensemble - Sergei Gratchev, Elena Sadina, and Aleksandr Solovov - currently teach at the Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Belgium, and at Middlebury College, Vermont.
The folk ensemble “Zolotoj Plyos” was founded in 1994 in the city of Saratov, Russia. Its members are Alexander Solovov, Elena Sadina, and Sergei Grachev. All three members of the group graduated from the Saratov State Conservatory and are professional musicians.
Elena and Sergei also graduated from the The "Jef Denyn" Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Belgium, the Antwerp Conservatory and the University of Leuven. They have won prizes at All-Russian and international folk instrument competitions and at the First All-Russian bell competition. While students in Russia the musicians collected old Russian folk songs and bell music in rural villages and towns.
The group’s repertoire includes folk songs and instrumental pieces from various parts of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, and other areas, and also features Gypsy music, Russian popular music, and Jewish music. The members of the ensemble play more than thirty Russian folk instruments, including the bayan, chromatic and diatonic accordions , the balalaika, domra, guitar, zhaleika, clarinet, saxophone, various percussion instruments , and Russian bells.
The ensemble has performed in countries such as Russia, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Portugal, Switzerland, and the USA. “Zolotoj Plyos” has been frequently invited to perform on radio and television shows in Russia, Belgium, and Holland.
From 2000-2010 the ensemble made five tours of the United States, including a concert in the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and also directed the Russian Choir of the Middlebury College Kathryn Wasserman Davis School of Russian at Middlebury College (Vermont, USA).
In 2008 the ensemble was given the honor of performing in the main hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and also in the main hall of the State Academic Choir in St. Petersburg. At the present time the members of “Zolotoj Plyos” live and work in Belgium.
Фольклорный ансамбль «Золотой Плёс» организован в 1994 году в г. Саратове (Россия) в составе Александра Соловова, Елены Садиной и Сергея Грачёва. Все члены коллектива закончили Саратовскую Государственную консерваторию и являются профессиональными музыкантами.
Елена и Сергей закончили также Королевский Международный институт карильонного искусства им. Джефа Денейна в г. Мехелене, Антверпенскую консерваторию, Лёвенский университет и являются лауреатами Всероссийских конкурсов русских народных инструментов, международных конкурсов и Первого Всероссийского конкурса колокольного искусства.
В период обучения в России музыканты собирали в деревнях и сёлах старинные русские народные песни и колокольные звоны.
В репертуаре группы фольклорные песни и инструментальные пьесы различных уголков России, Украины, Белоруссии, Молдавии, Грузии и т.д. Также цыганская музыка, русская популярная музыка, еврейская музыка. Члены ансамбля играют на более, чем 30-ти русских народных инструментах, включая баян, хроматические и диатонические гармошки, балалайку, домру, гитары, жалейки, кларнет, саксофон, волынку, шумовые ударные, русские колокола.
Ансамбль выступал с концертами в таких странах, как Россия, Бельгия, Голландия, Люксембург, Германия, Франция, Португалия, Швейцария, США.
«Золотой Плёс» часто приглашают для участия в телевизионных и радиопрограммах в России, Бельгии, Голландии.
В период с 2000 по 2010 год музыканты осуществили 5 гастрольных туров по США, включая концерт в знаменитом Центре Исполнительских Искусств им. Дж. Кеннеди, а также они руководят русским хором в крупнейшей программе изучения Русского языка в Миддлберийском Колледже (США).
В 2008 году ансамбль был удостоен чести выступать в большом зале Московской Государственной консерватории им. Чайковского и в зале Государственной Академической капеллы в Санкт-Петербурге.
В настоящее время музыканты живут и работают в Бельгии.
