A bilingual poetry reading and book signing by Dmitry Garanin
Tuesday, May 10, 7:00 pm Uncle Vanya Cafe 315 W 54th St, New York, New York 10019
Dmitry Garanin's bilingual book of poetry Icarus introduces Dmitry's English translations of his poems in Russian. The book's title borrows the name of one of the poems. It also alludes to the notorious difficulties of translating rhymed and metered Russian poetry into foreign languages. Translations in this book closely follow the sounding of the original and give a good idea of what is happening to the English readers.
