ProfLink is a non-profit member-based organization. Its nationwide members are professionals of all types, ranging from attorneys and financial planners to builders and real estate specialists.
One of ProfLink's main missions is to provide assistance to communities through quality educational programming on subjects that matter most to the communities by encouraging, organizing and facilitating community educational seminars to be given by volunteer quality professionals of various specializations.
ProfLink also serves as a platform for political, community and business leaders, activists, and organizations by assisting them in delivering the highest quality of free education and assistance to the communities, which is accomplished through ProfLink's participation in organizing educational community seminars and workshops, and promotion of these events through various media and community channels, as well as assembling qualified professionals of all types in delivering these valuable educational seminars and assistance to the communities and organizations. In addition, ProfLink conducts local and national educational ethnic programming through its own programs that are being carried out through ProfLink's television, radio and print media outlets.
ProfLink invites co-organizers of the events to its local and national television, radio, news media and community programs to discuss the important work that is being carried out both in and for the community. Although ProfLink's activities cover many ethnic communities, at the present time, there is no other organization in the Russian American Community locally or nationally which has the educational and media programming reach (television, radio and/or print) which comes close to the reach ProfLink has.
Also, ProfLink established a toll free hotline for people to call the Organization 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for professional advice and assistance with any matter. This toll-free hotline already became 311 service of the Russian-American community locally and nationally, as bilingual professionals are answering continuous flow of calls and connecting callers with corresponding professionals for assistance.
The founding board member of the ProfLink organization is Professor Steven V. Melnik. Mr. Melnik's passion for community education stems from his deep roots in academia. He is a tenured CUNY professor, director of graduate and undergraduate tax programs at Baruch College, City University of New York, a chairman of continuing professional education seminars for accountants and attorneys under Zicklin School of Business, City University of New York. Mr. Melnik is also an attorney who holds a post graduate degree in tax law (LLM in taxation) from New York University School of Law. Mr. Melnik is also a Certified Public Accountant.
For over a decade, Mr. Melnik has been giving the highest quality education to professionals and communities throughout the country and has made numerous appearances on many major news networks, such as NBC, CBS, CNBC and Bloomberg. Mr. Melnik is an honorary host and moderator of the annual New York City IRS symposium and is regularly published in the leading academic and practitioner oriented journals. In addition, Mr. Melnik is a board member of the United Russian American Political Action Committee, a president of the Russian American Bar Association and a chairman of OPORA (Outreach by Professionals and Organizations for Russian Americans) . For his dedication to quality education and an exemplary service to communities, Mr. Melnik has been numerously recognized by many political, community and academic leaders and organizations.
